FAQs

Bali Travel FAQs

Everything travellers usually ask us before booking a Bali holiday.

What is the best time to visit Bali?
The dry season from April to October has the best weather, with July and August the busiest. The wet season from November to March brings short heavy showers rather than all-day rain, plus lower prices and lush green scenery.
How many days do I need in Bali?
Seven nights is ideal, typically split between Ubud and a beach area such as Seminyak, Uluwatu or Nusa Dua. Ten nights lets you add Nusa Penida, the Gili Islands or Lombok.
Do I need a visa for Bali?
Indonesia offers visa on arrival or an e-VOA to many nationalities for a 30-day stay, extendable once. There is also a Bali tourist levy payable online or on arrival. Rules change, so confirm the current position before you travel.
Where should I stay in Bali?
Ubud for rice terraces, culture, yoga and jungle views; Seminyak and Canggu for beach clubs, cafes and nightlife; Uluwatu for clifftop views and surf; Nusa Dua and Sanur for calm, family-friendly beaches.
Is Bali safe for tourists?
Yes, Bali is generally safe and very used to visitors. Take care with scooters (a leading cause of tourist injury), watch for strong currents and rip tides at some beaches, and use normal precautions against petty theft.
Is Bali expensive?
Bali is very good value. Accommodation ranges from budget guesthouses to world-class villas, local food is inexpensive, and private drivers cost far less than in Europe. Alcohol and imported goods are the notable exceptions.
What are the must-see places in Bali?
Tegalalang rice terraces, Ubud Monkey Forest, Tirta Empul, Tanah Lot and Uluwatu temples with the Kecak dance, Mount Batur sunrise trek, Sekumpul or Tegenungan waterfalls, and a day trip to Nusa Penida.
Do I need to rent a scooter?
Not with us. Bali traffic is chaotic and scooter accidents are common among visitors. Our packages include a private car and driver, which is inexpensive, safe and far more comfortable.
Is Bali good for honeymoons?
It is one of the great honeymoon destinations: private pool villas, floating breakfasts, clifftop dinners, couples spa rituals and dramatic sunsets, at a fraction of the cost of comparable resorts elsewhere.
What should I wear at Balinese temples?
A sarong and sash are required and are usually provided or rented at the entrance. Shoulders should be covered. Visitors who are menstruating are traditionally asked not to enter temple grounds.
Can I drink the tap water in Bali?
No. Drink bottled or filtered water and use it for brushing teeth. Ice in established restaurants and hotels is generally produced commercially and is fine.
What is the food like in Bali?
Excellent and varied. Try nasi goreng, mie goreng, satay, babi guling and bebek betutu, alongside a huge international and health-food scene in Ubud, Canggu and Seminyak. Vegetarian and vegan options are everywhere.
Is Bali suitable for families with kids?
Yes. Nusa Dua and Sanur have calm beaches and family resorts, and there are waterparks, safari and marine parks, elephant and bird sanctuaries, cooking classes and gentle rafting.
What is the currency in Bali?
The Indonesian rupiah (IDR). Cards work in hotels, malls and larger restaurants. Carry cash for warungs, markets and temple entries, and use ATMs attached to banks or hotels.
Can you build a custom Bali itinerary?
Yes. We tailor Bali trips around honeymoons, families, wellness, surfing or island-hopping, and we can combine Bali with Gili, Lombok, Java or Singapore. Send us your dates and interests for a quote.
